At 5 Pórtes, there is no compromise when it comes to the quality of the ingredients. The huge flame grill takes centre stage, with fish supplied daily by the local fishermen, the finest shellfish and premium meat sourced from Galicia, all you have to do is choose how you want your food cooked from the list of suggestions.
Choices may include local bream, squid, cuttlefish Menorcan style and the sweet, delicately flavoured red Menorcan prawns tossed quickly with garlic on the plancha. Local lobster is a particular speciality, either simply prepared and grilled, in one of the special rice dishes or in a ‘Caldereta’, the typical rich fish stew of Menorca. The restaurant also serves an excellent steak, cooked to your liking and accompanied by a variety of sauces and only selects the finest vegetables to complement your meal, locally grown and according to the season.
In addition to the A La Carte menu and daily specials blackboard, there are two Menu del Dias, available both lunchtime and in the evening. At €14 and €22 including a glass of wine, water or a soft drink, these are very well priced for the quality and choice. Deserts are homemade and the house torte is a must.
The restaurant is open every day throughout the year. Summer opening hours: 11.00 until 01.00 in the morning. Winter opening hours: 12.00 until 16.00 hours lunchtime daily and evenings only on Friday & Saturday from 19.30 until 23.00 hours.
