Club Vidalba Proud Owners Of A Menorcan Llaut
Club Vidalba, a voluntary organisation that provides sporting and leisure activities for handicapped children in Menorca, will soon be the proud new owners of a traditional Menorcan Llaut.
Current owners Nigel and Moira Dwyer have enjoyed and cared for the boat they named Susurro for 30 years and, having decided to part with it, were undecided what to do with it as its value was far more sentimental than commercial. A close friend and also one of the Menorcan Charity Players suggested that they could donate it to Club Vidalbar, one of MCP’s favourite causes. This prospect very much appealed to them and, change of ownership completed, the Llaut will shortly be handed over to Gabriel Carreras, President of the Association. MCP has agreed to help support the annual maintenance by raising money through their performances to ensure that Club Vidalba does not incur any excessive costs that will drain its limited resources.
The boat will be used to enable all Club Vidalba members to experience and enjoy the pleasure of being afloat and enjoying the beautiful island of Menorca from the water. The children can also assist with the maintenance such as anti-fouling and varnishing etc. A permanent mooring is currently being sought for Susurro’s new lifestyle. If anyone has any ideas or would like to contribute to this venture, please call Chris Collman on 696 434 787.
