The menu is extensive. From €4.74, starters may include avocado and prawns, croquettes with serrano ham, creamed spinach with prawns, fried baby squid or perhaps prawns in garlic at €10.75 or octopus Galician style at €11.25. Fish main courses start from as little as €7.00 for sardines and include john dory, monk fish with Mahon cheese sauce, cuttlefish stuffed with shellfish and tuna with parsley and garlic at €12.00.
When it comes to shellfish, lobster is a speciality cooked anyway you like….in a soup to start, thermador or simply grilled and served with ‘all i oli’ (garlic mayonnaise). Fornells is the home of ‘caldereta’, Menorca’s famous lobster stew, and, again, El Pescador does not disappoint. It has its own lobster tanks and offers some of the best prices for this traditional and often very pricy dish.
But it’s not all about fish, El Pescador serves various steaks either plain or with pepper sauce from €13, stroganoff, a spicy chicken curry and slow roasted suckling pig or shoulder of lamb at €16.50. Pasta, vegetarian dishes, paellas and a children’s menu are also available.
To finish, the dessert menu features chocolate pudding with Belgian chocolate sauce, almond tart, flamed bananas with ice cream and a special ‘Tortada de Yema’ to name a few, starting at €4.50.
The well priced house wine at €11 or local wine Favoritz from Menorca at €17 or the slightly effervescent La Nansa de Aguja are just three highlights from the selection of mainly Spanish wines to complement your meal, which also includes Sangria and cava.
What’s more, El Pescador offers a great priced Menu del Dia at €10.12 (for 2012) available both at lunchtime and in the evenings, representing outstanding value for money. Not only is there a wide selection of starters and main courses with fish, meat and vegetarian options as well as homemade desserts (ordered at the same time), there is also the choice of a Champagne cocktail or garlic bread when you arrive…! Please note, this menu not available in the high season, from mid July until mid September.
Owner and chef Toni has earned an enviable reputation over the past 25 years, having created a true Spanish style family restaurant where the atmosphere is welcoming, the food is all freshly prepared, well presented and always great value for money, and the service is fast and efficient. The restaurant is also a great venue for larger parties and special celebrations.
