During the winter months, El Picadero is open every day from 12.30 to 16.00 hours offering a Menu del Día (priced at €12 on weekdays and €15 on Sundays and public holidays), which includes wine and is changed daily. The weekly-changing €19 Menu de Noche is served between 19.00 and 23.00 hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, again including wine.
There is a good choice of rice dishes, which can be ordered for just one person, with prices starting at €13 per person (for a vegetable paella). Tapas start at €3.50 for patatas bravas (roast potatoes with a spicy sauce) to €12 for S’Cala Anchoas (quality anchovies from a village on the Costa Brava). Each day a Paella or Fideua (using noodles in place of rice) is included in the Menu del Día, and ‘Specials’ include Fish & Chips (with mushy or garden peas) on Fridays and a traditional roast dinner on Sundays.
Bookings are now being taken for Christmas Day, a traditional English Christmas Dinner with a welcome drink and canapés, three courses (with choices) and wine, plus coffee, liqueur and mince pies (and a free draw for a Christmas hamper) priced at €50 per head. Only a few places now remain. The restaurant is offering a celebratory dinner along similar lines on New Year’s Eve with music provided by DJ Harry, again for €50 per person.
To reserve a table on either of the two dates, you can telephone Christine on 971 363 268 or email her at: email@example.com. A 50% deposit will be required at the time of booking.
