Estación Náutica de Menorca
Los Estaciones Náuticas de España or Water Sports Centres of Spain are tourist destinations which specialise in offering active holidays where the main focus is on watersports and other maritime pursuits. Until recently, Menorca had three independent nautical resorts at Mahón, Ciutadella and Fornells, out of a total of only six locations accredited in the Balearic Islands by the Nautical Resorts of Spain. This is a great accolade and reflection of the close relationship Menorca has enjoyed with the nautical world long before the arrival of tourism.
These three centres have now joined together as Estación Náutica de Menorca to benefit from a single administrative resource while still offering the same high quality service and advice to ensure you get the most from your holiday in Menorca. This not only includes water sports and other sea-based activities such as boat charters, but also a varied range of land based sports and leisure interests such as golf, horse riding, tennis and ‘wellness’ spas. Estación Náutica also provides information on day excursions, car hire and restaurants and can also help to find the type of accommodation that best suits your needs. The advantage is peace of mind as each member of Estación Náutica de Menorca has been assessed for quality, service and value for money.
In addition, Menorca was awarded Biosphere Reserve status in 1993 by UNESCO,under its program ‘Man and the Biosphere’. This accreditation imposes a level of protection for almost half of the island to create an environmental balance and the Ley de Espacios Naturales (Natural Areas Act) covers nineteen areas. Estación Náutica de Menorca promotes sustainable tourism in accordance with the Biosphere Reserve, helping to keep the island as it is – a paradise for all.
