Fiestas & Public Holidays in Menorca
Fiestas in Menorca take place practically every week throughout the summer months, from June to September, as each town around the island celebrates its own patron saint. Some saints’ days are fixed to specific dates each year, while others are celebrated on the nearest, most convenient weekend. This means that many fiesta dates change year on year. In general, fiestas are based on traditional protocol. However, each town has its own interpretation and puts on a programme of events to entertain its people and, more recently, tourists. Taking centre stage and common to all fiestas are the magnificent Menorcan horses. Everyone gets involved and these colourful, lively and noisy local events are a part of Menorcan culture that should not to be missed.
To ensure you don't miss out on all the fun, click here for Menorca's Fiesta Calendar 2013 to find out what’s going on where. A full programme of activities for each fiesta will be published before the event in our What's On section. Please note, banks, businesses and most shops in the towns will be closed locally during their fiesta.
