So, what’s it like on board…? Well, to start with, just easing out of Mahon Marina where Eloise is moored is an unforgettable experience as you pass by all the famous landmarks lining the historic harbour, which from the sea take on a different perspective. Once out at sea, the pure enjoyment of the Menorquin fishing boat comes into its own. They aren’t built for speed, although 18 knots is possible if required. With the large displacement beam design, Eloise cuts through the water with ease at a serene and gentle 5 to 12 knots. This is certainly the way to travel to enjoy the spectacular scenery as you pass by Menorca’s beautiful unspoiled coastline.
What’s more, Eloise has her own experienced, multilingual skipper called Serapio who is there to look after all your needs and take you where you want to go, leaving those on board to get on with the important job of enjoying themselves.
Space to relax and unwind
Eloise is deceptively large and like most ladies disguises this well. With ample sundecks to the front, fly deck with seating above and outside covered seating to the rear of the main saloon cabin plus swim platform beyond, there is more than enough space for up to 12 people to spread out and relax in areas to suit. She is also equipped with a small inflatable tender with outboard motor, kayak and snorkeling equipment for those who wish to discover coves, caves and isolated virgin beaches, most of which cannot be reached by land.
With three cabins providing comfortable sleeping for six plus a converted double bed in the top saloon (therefore sleeping eight in total), two bathrooms, lower saloon with well equipped kitchen galley, upper saloon with helm station opening up onto a superb aft deck (which combine to make a wonderful entertainment area), a yacht charter aboard Eloise is the perfect relaxing holiday, allowing everyone to enjoy their time at sea in comfort without any need to ‘get there quickly’. Gently cruising from cove to cove while taking in the often dramatic yet always stunning Menorcan coastline, lazy meals on the aft deck, maybe a swim and snorkel off the swim platform or sunbathing on the vast sun deck is definitely what it’s all about.
Explore at your leisure
For a great day charter you could visit the Isla de Colon off Es Grau or the picturesque bay of Binibeca or perhaps go further afield to either Fornells or Santa Tomas – the choice is yours, wind and tide dependent. A week’s charter would enable you to tour the whole island at leisure, stopping off as and when the mood takes you before finding an anchorage overnight and watching one of Menorca’s magnificent sunsets. Either way, you can chose to stay on board where Serapio is more than happy cook for you or go ashore to one of the many beach bars and restaurants. Apart from Serapio’s outstanding seamanship skills, he is a very capable cook and delights in preparing his special calamari and fresh fish for guests.
Permanent skipper Serapio has over 20 years experience and is more than qualified to ensure that you enjoy your trip in safe hands. Eloise is fully coded under British regulations for up to 12 guests in coastal waters within 12 miles of shore. With its own generator on board, charters can be completely self-contained for a trip of several days without needing to call into port or return to base for refueling and restocking.
There is no doubt about it, there is something very romantic about the Menorquin Llaut and Eloise is guaranteed to leave you with a very special and lasting memory of your holiday in Menorca.
Moored permanently in Mahon harbour, Eloise is available for charter throughout the summer months until the end of October. For June, day charters start from €800 and a week’s charter from €4,800 including local tax.
