Following on from the success of last year’s fun filled event, many of the popular games and activities return such as Bowling for a Pig, Wellie Whanging, and Target Shooting, to name but a few. And there are some new ones for this year…the traditional Cotswolds/Oxfordshire summer game ‘Aunt Sally’, a Coconut Shy, Spot the Ball, Target Darts, photo with the Queen and, not forgetting the youngsters, various activities for the under sixes including Hook a Duck, Face Painting and a Lucky Dip. Once again, we will have the Fun Races for children of every age, Egg and Spoon, Sack, and Three- Legged – so join in and give them a try..!
You can also enjoy perusing the local craft stalls, with Artisan Jewellery, Homemade Produce, Gifts, Books and…Chilli Plants, together with stalls from the charities Red Cross and Vidalba. Menorca’s conservationist organisation GOB (Grup Balear d’Ornitologia i Defensa de la Naturalesa) will have a stand, where you can buy plants, books and get information on solar panels or on gardening using indigenous plants which do not need much water, as well as find out more about the Recuperation Centre for wild animals and other aspects of the work GOB does to help conserve the island’s unique environment.
You certainly won’t go hungry or thirsty either. To keep you refreshed, there will again be the scrumptious Afternoon Tea and the delicious BBQ and in the garden. You can also bask outside the luxury Pimm’s Tent and two bars!
Adding to all this excitement will be a fabulous raffle with star prizes from the Biniarroca Hotel and a ‘Flight Round the Island’ from Bonnin Sanso. There will also be a tombola, an entry program draw as well as other events. In fact, it’s everything you could want from a village fete..and more, so do come and enjoy a very British afternoon with lots of wonderful Mediterranean sunshine at the Cricket Club’s event of the year.
Set in a beautiful countryside location, Menorca Cricket Club can be found on Cami De Biniparrell in Sant Lluís, on the road between Llucmacanes and S’Uestra. Click here for a map with directions.
Menorca Cricket Club
The Menorca Cricket Club (MCC) was founded in 1985 by a group of British ex-pats with the aim to enjoy ‘competitive village cricket’. Today the club prides itself in offering members and guests one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the Mediterranean. If you fancy a game of cricket whist on your holiday, you can visit the club and participate in their games when there are no fixtures. These games are played on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout July and August. Alternately you can simply turn up, enjoy some refreshments and watch. Menorca Cricket Club is located at Biniparrell near Sant Sant Lluís, just past S’Uestra and immediately after passing the left turning to Binibeca there is a right turning signposted as Biniparrell / Llumacanes, follow this winding road for about 600 meters, the sign for Menorca Cricket Club is on your left.
