flamingo_1Coves Noves can claim to have one of the best pizzeria restaurants in the area. Under the experienced ownership of Kiko and his wife Herminia for the past 11 years, Flamingo is the perfect place to eat either before or after a trip to the beautiful sandy beach of Arenal d’en Castell, just a few minutes away.

Well frequented by locals, this family run restaurant is not so well known to holiday makers staying in the surrounding resorts.

However, this is rapidly changing as word goes round that Kiko used to run a similar restaurant in Arenal and fans of his homemade, freshly cooked pizzas now come specifically to Flamingo to enjoy them. Starting at €6.75 for a Pizza Margherita, the pizza menu features 17 different combinations, two types of garlic bread and a meat Focaccia.

However, it’s not all about pizzas. Flamingo also offers a good range of meat, fish and pasta dishes all freshly prepared and cooked to order. Chefs specialsflamingo_3include onion soup, steaks from €14 with pepper or Roquefort sauce, grilled sardines, prawns and cuttlefish from €7.50 and cod baked in the oven with garlic sauce. New for 2012 is the fresh hake in ‘salsa verde’ with clams at €13.50, the Menorcan roast lamb at €14.75 and the fresh salmon in a cava sauce with clams at €14.50. With plates to share, such as garlic prawns, Andalusian style squid and an Iberian ham platter starting at €10 and a selection of ‘Platos Combinados’ (meat dishes with chips and vegetables), ideal for a quick lunch, starting at €7.50, there really is something for everyone.

Paella is also a speciality and there is a special paella menu offered on Fridays which should not be missed starting at €13.50. There is also a Menu del Dia at €12.00, a snack menu with choices starting at €3.90 for bacon, egg, sausage and chips and a children’s menu at €4.75. House red, white and rose wines are well priced at €11.

The large covered terrace area in front of the restaurant acts as the main dining room, the sides of which can be completely open to give a wonderful outdoor eating feel. There are a few tables inside as well as a cosy bar when you can go simply to enjoy a relaxing coffee or a drink while reading the paper or watching TV.

flamingo_8You can always be sure of a warm, friendly welcome by Kiko, Herminia and their son Francis and a lively atmosphere. In the evenings, Flamingo is a great venue for enjoying home cooked, well priced food and especially for watching the entertainment that regularly takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays in the middle of the commercial centre.

Flamingo is open every day from 11.30 until 16.30 and again from 19.00 until late, from February until the end of October. Throughout November, the restaurant will be open for lunch from 12.00 until 16.00 hours and on Friday and Saturday evenings from 19.00 until 22.30 hours.
