19.00 hrs: Workshop and circus games with Su Charanga with the spectacle ‘Benvinguts al Circ’ (Welcome to the Circus) in Plaça de s’Algaret.
21.00 hrs: Neighbourhood dinner and dancing in the Calle del Mar. Everyone welcome and must register their at the Community Centre by Monday 22 July.
Thursday 25 July
19.00 hrs: Painting Outdoors on the harbourside (Calle de la Mar) with the AssociacióPunt@RT’s art school. Anybody interested can participate.
20.00 hrs. Members of the Pensioners’ Club (Club de Jubilats de Fornells) are invited to enjoy chocolate and ‘coca bamba’(cake) in the Sala Polivalente with music provided by ‘No Hi Som Tots’.
21.00 hrs: Family entertainment with the show Down Town, The Swinging 60s in Calle de la Mar.
22.30 hrs: Video show ‘Surfing in Fornells’ and concert from Sonadors de Son Camaró in calle del Contramaestre.
Friday 26 July
20.30 hrs: Official invitation (Prego´) to the 2013 fiestas at the Sant Antoni fort (Castillo de Sant Antoni) with music provided by ‘No Hi Som Tots’, after which everyone is invited to have the first ‘pomada’ (gin and lemon drink) of the fiestas, accompanied by music from the Es Mercadal municipal band.
23.00 hrs: Open air dance on the harbourside with music from groups Oasis and Black Pearl.
Saturday 27 July
11.00 hrs onwards: Swimming between the islands, ‘Circuito entre islas’, from Illa de ses Sargantanes to Platgeta des Plas de Fornells, 900m.
16.45 hrs: The bells ring out and a burst of rockets announce the start of the fiestas, and the ‘giants’, carnival figures and the Fornells Bugle and Drum Band parade the streets.
17.00 hrs: The ‘Fabioler’ (herald), goes to the town’s Community Centre (Local Social) to ask permission to start the fiesta and the crowd waits in silence as the first note is played on the ‘fabiol’ (flute). The Caixers are then collected from their homes and the cavalcade begins to form, starting with the ‘Caixera Sobreposada’ (Flag Bearer).
The Fabioler and Sobreposada’ return to the Community Centre where the Fiesta Flag is presented to the ‘Sobreposada’. They proceed through the streets to gather the other Caixers and horse riders in the cavalcade, including the ‘Caixer Pagès’ and the ‘Caixer Casat’, while the Es Mercadal band plays the traditional fiesta music as they parade the village.
18.30 hrs: The party collects the ‘Caixer Capellà’ (priest) from Plaça de l’Església and the ‘Caixera Batlessa’ (fiesta mayoress) who presides over the cavalcade, before heading off to the Community Centre where the Mayor of the municipality hands over the Staff of Office to the ‘Caixera Batlessa’. After a tour of the village, the horses are left in the main square and the riders join the authorities to celebrate Evening Mass (Compline) in honour of Sant Antoni Abat in the parish church of Fornells. During the service the traditional ‘candeletes’ (small candles) are handed out.
Following the service, the cavalcade parades the streets again and at around 20.30 hours the ‘Jaleo’ takes place in the main square amidst loud cheers from the lively crowd and music from the Es Mercadal Municipal Band. Afterwards, the ‘Fabioler’ summons the cavalcade once again for the reception given by the town council for the riders, authorities and guests in the Castillo de Sant Antoni.
24.00 hrs: Dancing on the waterfront with music from the group J L Febre.
Sunday 28 July
08.30 hrs: Morning Reveille through the streets of the village with the Dalt Sant Joan Bugle and Drum Band.
09.00 hrs: The ‘Fabioler’ sets out to gather the cavalcade following the traditional route, starting with the Caixer Sobreposat and finishing with the Caixer Capellà and the ‘Caixera Batlessa’.
11.00 hrs. Mass in the parish church of Sant Antoni, during which ‘aigua-ros’ (rose water) is distributed. This is followed by the second ‘Jaleo’ on the waterfront square, Plaça de s’Algaret, followed by the presentation of the ‘trophy’ green canes and silver spoons to the caixers, accompanied by music from the Es Mercadal Municipal Band.
All the riders and townspeople are then invited to a reception given by the Town Council in the Castillo de Sant Antoni. After the traditional ‘beguda’ (refreshments), the riders accompany the ‘Caixera Batlessa’ and the ‘Caixer Capellà’ to their respective homes to say farewell. They then accompany the ‘Caixer Sobreposat’ to the village Community Centre to return the flag and the last notes are played on the ‘fabiol’ (flute). Later in the afternoon the younger horsemen distribute ‘aigua-ros’ to houses in the village.
20.30 hrs: Circus show with African Foot Prints in Plaça de s’Algaret.
22.00 hrs: Live music performance by Fàbrica de Música in Plaça de s’Algaret.
24.00 hrs: Open air public dance by the harbour side with the group Huracán in Calle de la Mar.
Monday 29 July
11.00 hrs: Mass is held in the parish church in memory of people from Fornells who have died during the past year.
18.00 hrs: ‘Capellet’, a game for the young and old in Plaça de s’Algaret, followed by children’s games such as sack races etc with Ana Acosta, finishing with a burst of children’s fireworks on the waterfront.
22.30 hrs: Spectacular Water Firework display next to the Castillo de Sant Antoni.
23.00 hrs: Fiesta finale, a grand open air dance with Oasis and Sarau on the harbour side in Calle de la Mar.
Tuesday 30 July
19.30 hrs: Sale of antiques, curiosities and collectibles in the Plaça de s’Algaret, 10 % of the sales donated to the charity ASPANOB.
