Saturday 3 August
17.00 hrs: The sound of rockets and bells announce the start of the fiesta of Sant Cristòfol de Ses Corregudes. The Es Migjorn Gran Band, directed by Isaac Mascaró Nevado, parades the streets starting from the Pla de l’Església. A little before 18.00 hrs, the Fabioler (herald) collects the ‘Caixera Fadrina’ (spinster flag bearer) and they make their way to the steps of the old Town Hall were the councillors and townsfolk are waiting for them.
18.00 hrs: The Fabioler asks permission to gather the cavalcade and the first ‘toc’ (note) is played on the ‘fabiol’ (flute). The Fiesta Flag of Saint Cristòfol is handed over by the youngest town councillor to the ‘Caixera Fadrina’. The band strikes up the traditional ‘El Gato Montés’ and the Caixera Fadrina makes her horse rear up to the delight of the crowds. The cavalcade begins to gather.
19.00 hrs: The Staff of Office and Saint Christopher Medal are presented to the Caixer Batle (Fiesta Mayor) by the Mayor on the Town Hall steps. The band continues to play and they set off to collect the Caixer Capellà (Fiesta Priest). The cavalcade tours the town and makes its ways to the old Town Hall square where they leave the horses.
20.00 hrs: The party of caixers and authorities, accompanied by the Band, proceed on foot to the parish church to celebrate evening Mass in honor of Sant Cristòfol. Here the younger caixers distribute the ‘candeletes’ (little candles) while they sing the ‘Goigs a Sant Cristòfol’ (Joy to Saint Christopher).
20.30 hrs: The cavalcade, accompanied by the Es Migjorn Gran Band, proceeds to the Sala for the traditional reception and meal for the caixers, dignitaries and guests. The Fabioler and Caixers then rejoin the cavalcade for another full tour of the town before making their way to Sa Plaça for the ‘Jaleo’.
21.00 hrs: The first ‘Jaleo’ of the fiesta takes place, after which there are three complete tours of the town during which the Capellà Caixer and the Caixer Batle are accompanied to their respective homes and cavalcade departs until the next day.
00.30 hrs: A Grand open air dance in the Sports Zone with the group Sarau and DJ Carlos Riera. Proceeds from the bar will go to football club CD Migjorn.
Sunday 4 August
08.00 hrs: Morning reveille (Diana Florejada) through the streets with the Es Migjorn Gran Band.
09.00 hrs: The caixers and horse riders gather to form the cavalcade for the main day of the Fiestas de Sant Cristòfol. Once complete, the cavalcade tours the town before heading to the old Town Hall square where they leave their horses.
10.15 hrs: The Caixers, horse riders and authorities walk to the parish church, accompanied by the sound of the flute and drum, to celebrate Mass for the riders (Missa Solemne) taken by the Caixer Capellà, during which the younger caixers distribute the aigua-ros (rose water). Afterwards, they proceed to the old Town Hall square to collect their horses and reform the cavalcade which tours the town before heading off to Sa Plaça.
12.00 midday: The final ‘Jaleo’ takes place in Sa Plaça. Once the riders have completedthree laps they are presented with the traditional green canes and silver spoons by the town council. The cavalcade then tours the streets and squares of the town three times.
15.30 hrs: The Es Migjorn Band parades from the Pla de l’Església to the old Town Hall square accompanied by the caixers and townspeople for the traditional reception to which everyone is invited. Afterwards, members of the cavalcade accompany the Caixer Batle and then the Caixer Capellà to their respective homes and the cavalcade disbands until next year. The riders distribute the aigua-ros to all households in the village.
21.30 hrs: Blues concert with Tota Blues in Sa Plaça and guest artist Queralt Albinyana will present their new album “When I met the blues”.
23.00 hrs: Open air dance in Sa Plaça with the group Huracán, during which the trophy for best horse of Sant Cristòfol de Ses Corregudes 2013 is presented by JAC and RTM.
Monday 5 August
08.30 hrs: Morning reveille with the Es Migjorn Gran Bugle and Drum Band, directed by Àgueda Sales Orfila.
10.00 hrs: Clay Pigeon Shooting competition in the old water treatment plant, organised by Es Migjorn Gran’s Hunters’ Society.
11.00 hrs: Mass in memory of people of Es Migjorn Gran who have died during the past year.
17.30 hrs: The children parade the town with the Bugle and Drum Band, followed by children’s games in Sa Plaça, organised by Sa Xaranga. Afterwards, everyone heads to the steps of the old Town Hall for the ‘Traca Infantil’ (children’s firecrackers).
19.30 hrs: One of the highlights of the fiesta is the special street parade by the Es Migjorn Gran Band, who wear fancy dress to entertain everyone on the last day.
21.00 hrs: Traditional donkey ‘Jaleo’ at Sa Plaça where locals dress up and ride on the back of donkeys, imitating the traditional jaleo.
00.30 hrs: Last open air dance in Sa Plaça with the group ‘Sarau’. Again, there’ll be no firework display due to lack of funds.
