A passion and love of the sea is the driving force behind Náutica Reynes, Menorca’s most comprehensive marine company, with a history spanning some 75 years. While some suppliers specialise in a specific brand, Náutica Reynes focuses on offering a complete nautical service from new boat sales, equipment and chandlery products to servicing, maintenance and wintering, through to boat brokerage should you wish to trade your boat in for a new or different model. The company’s success is reflected in its many years’ experience and dedication to providing the highest quality products and exceptional levels of customer service, leaving its customers to relax and enjoy their Mediterranean boating experience in complete confidence.
The company operates from its modern, purpose built showroom, offices and well-stocked chandlery shop on the Mahón Poligono with on-site servicing, maintenance and storage facilities. And, for the convenience of its customers, there is a second chandlery shop on Mahón harbour just 10 minutes away selling an extensive range of boat essentials and luxury items.
Today, Náutica Reynes has grown to be among the best nautical sales and maintenance companies in the Balearics and is proud to be the official distributors of some of the world’s most prestigious boat brands. Each vessel has been carefully selected to complement and enhance Menorca’s particular coastal conditions and Mediterranean climate, as well as to guarantee the perfect balance between comfort and safety. The extensive list includes Galeon, Prestige Yachts, Fjord, Valiant, Selva, Mastercraft, Monterey, Lomac, Quicksilver, Faeton, Rio and Bayliner…among others, giving customers a wide range of types, styles, sizes and, of course, prices to choose from.
All sea lovers understand the importance of a reliable propulsion system capable of responding to any situation, and Náutica Reynes stocks only the industry’s finest, being the official dealers for some of the most advanced and respected engines on the market such as Mercury, Cummins, Mercruiser, Diesel, Yanmar, Sole and Volvo Penta.
Full service capability
With a total of 7,500 square metres designated to different services, including a showroom, office administration, chandlery shop, used boat area, servicing, repair and maintenance, indoor and outdoor storage facilities and a further shop and moorings on the harbour, Náutica Reynes really can claim to have built one of the most comprehensive nautical operations currently available. What’s more, this is backed up by a full dealer service with help and support to ensure your total peace of mind. Not only does this cover boat maintenance, wintering, cleaning, engine servicing and a 24 hour technical emergency service, but also assisting customers with all necessary administration from registration and insurance to inspections and legal requirements.
Understanding customer needs
While Náutica Reynes understands boats and boat maintenance, above all its experienced staff understand that buying a boat, no matter what size or make, is a very special and exciting purchase, where professional customer advice and efficient, reliable after sales service can be the difference between ‘living the dream’ and a ‘living nightmare’.
Menorca, like all islands, has its own distinct personality and idiosyncrasies that makes some vessels more suited to its climate and seas than others. People, too are different…some looking for the exhilaration of power and speed, others looking for a more gentle sensation to enjoy and explore Menorca’s idyllic coastline and crystal clear waters.
Náutica Reynes believes that its longstanding experience of both marine vessels and Menorca puts it in a unique position to be able to interpret our customers’ wishes to their complete satisfaction.
For UK customers, Menorca is only two hours flight time from most UK airports and our moorings in Mahón harbour are only 10 minutes drive from the airport. Mahon harbour is the second natural deepest harbour in the world, the first being Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. Menorca can boasts more beaches, bays and hidden coves than the rest of the Balearic islands combined, with a spectacular coastline, crystal clear turquoise waters and stunning white sandy beaches, some of which are only accessible from the sea.
This together with Menorca’s close proximity to Mallorca at only two hours cruise time away, Ibiza at around seven hours and the Spanish mainland (Barcelona) at around six hours makes it the perfect Mediterranean base for motor cruising.
While Náutica Reynes has had a presence for over 30 years at the Barcelona International Boat Show, now held in September, the company recognises the importance of supporting the UK market and its growing customer base and is planning to attend the London and Southampton Boat Shows in the near future.
Artisan beginnings to modern day
Náutica Reynes’ story is based on one of innovation, perseverance and determination to supply the highest quality products at the best price, backed up by professional and reliable service.
Like all pioneering companies, Náutica Reynes’ flexible approach to business development, through good and not so good times, has enabled the company to flourish as its founders responded to changing market demands and seized new opportunities.
From humble beginnings back in 1935 when its founder, grandfather Reynes, started supplying and maintaining farming equipment, the business moved into the growth area of bikes and motorbikes before recognising the increasing desire for small pleasure boats and chandlery products. The company’s course was set and with and a hunger for improvement and development, it was able to offer a better quality service and attract more prestigious brands.
Following a move to its current purpose-built showroom and offices on the outskirts of Mahón and a change of name to Náutica Reynes in 1993, the company, under the direction of Benito Reynes has grown steadily to become Menorca’s longest established and most experienced marine sales and maintenance operation with a reputation to be proud of. Náutica Reynes now employs 15 permanent members of staff which it doubles in the high season, and operates an on site training and career path for those wishing to grow and succeed with the company.
In 2010, Náutica Reynes held a memorable party at La Mola to celebrate its 75-year anniversary, to which 450 people including the port authorities, businessmen, local dignatories, customers, suppliers and staff attended. Another smaller customer loyalty party was held in 2012 which is something that the company would like to see continue and become a regular event.
In the words of CEO Benito Reynes: “Náutica Reynes’ success is the result of an uncompromising and unrivaled commitment to provide what we consider to be the best marine service and support on the island. Landmarks such as opening our showroom and offices in Mahón allowed us to improve our business further and become a point of reference as a company that stands for quality and service. Ten years later, this was further endorsed when we received the prestigious ‘Q de Qualidad’ accreditation which we see as not only testament to our achievements but also as a reflection of the confidence leading brands and our customers have entrusted in our company.
“As we build on our past to create the future, we shall continue to embrace new technologies to improve our communications and operations further, and our mission will remain to share our enthusiasm and love for boats and the sea with our customers.
“At Náutica Reynes, we are sailing at full speed..!! We hope you will join us on our journey to find out more about what we can offer you here on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Menorca.”
