This is one of the most popular cafés right in the centre of Mahón at the other end of Calle del Angel, where lots of locals stop to have their early morning coffee and breakfast and now a firm favourite with visitors too. With very friendly and attentive service from Guedi, Montse and Carlota, Es Rinconet offers an extensive selection of breakfast / midmorning snack options, from toast, sandwiches and hot and cold crusty rolls to cakes, pastries and crepes. They also have excellent homemade tapas of the day, and set dishes to choose from at lunchtime or for an early evening meal. Always buzzing, this is an excellent place to get the feel of local café life, either on the quaint little terrace outside or in the clean, comfortable and air conditioned interior.
Argos (Calle del Angel / Calle Rossario, 18): Long established shop and gallery selling artists’ materials, paper, cards, framed and unframed prints and paintings, and also providing a picture framing service.
Now at the end of the street, a left turn will take you to Plaça Reial and the other main pedestrianised shopping streets, and straight on through the tunnel leads to the pretty little Freginal Park and car park. Or, if you turn left up the hill, you will reach the Teatre Principal, Spain’s oldest opera house dating back to 1829.
