Aroma Sensations has to be the most exciting new find for fine dining in Menorca for 2012. Occupying a prime location on Mahon Port and previously well known to many as Marivent, the premises has been completely refurbished taking it to the next stage to create an uber cool, yet informal gourmet tapas bar and restaurant above with stunning views out over the harbour.
Ses Voltes is a magnificent, three storey gastronomic restaurant and bar that takes it name from the characteristic stone arches that line the street, right in the centre of the old town of Ciutadella. Hidden behind its unassuming façade, Ses Voltes offers a multitude of surprises to suit any occasion, mood or hour. As the day progresses, so does Ses Voltes, from that first cup of early morning coffee to late night drinks on the way home.
Under new management since June 2010, this restaurant sympathetically mixes old architecture with new modern features to create a contemporary setting with wonderful triple aspect views over Ciutadella harbour and the main square, Placa des Born.
Serving modern Catalan style cuisine, the Menu del Dia includes 2 courses, bread and dessert. Choices for starters include fabada (a hearty bean and sausage
soup) and mussels cooked in beer, followed by main courses such as cod cooked with paprika, grilled bream with garlic and meat balls with squid, all well presented. At €14.50 (inc IVA), Cas Consol represents good value to enjoy an imaginative menu in creative and interesting surroundings.
Now well established under the professional management of owners Agustin Suarez and Teresa Sevilla, Alcalde Restaurant and Lounge Bar in Arenal d’en Castell is no longer Menorca's best kept secret, as more people get to know what a magical place this is. Having undergone a complete transformation, keeping only its original name and basic layout, this well established restaurant now offers superb outside terrace dining overlooking the magnificent bay of Arenal, indoor dining in the spacious restaurant, seating areas for more informal eating and drinks as well as a contemporary cocktail lounge. No detail has been spared to ensure your visit to is truly memorable. Children are also well catered for with their own play area and special menu.
Tast offers a wonderful dining experience bringing together old and new into an eclectic mix of rustic and contemporary architecture, with antiquities from a modern and historic past.
Situated in a sympathetically converted town house in Mercadal’s paved square, the restaurant is deceptively large with a bar area at the front and dining both at the front and back, which enjoys natural light from a cleverly designed glass roof, as well as upstairs. With tables and chairs outside, Tast is also perfect for a coffee in sun and has become very popular with those sampling a selection of imaginative tapas at lunchtime.
