Es Cactus is a true family style restaurant, pizzaria and bar that really does have something for everyone at any time of day to suit you. With great views over the bay of Cala Tirant and towards Monte Toro at the front, an extensive menu with choices to suit all appetites and budgets and a warm welcome from owners Pili and Juan, you can feel at ease and savour the moment of relaxing with family and friends.
Now in its 18th year, Es Cactus has become a great meeting place with a homely, informal atmosphere that attracts regular customers each year who look forward to their annual get togethers. And, it’s easy to see why as nothing is too much trouble for Pili who ensures everything runs smoothly front of house, while chef Juan runs the efficient kitchen at the back, which stays open throughout the day.
Now in its twelfth year, El Pirata is the longest established restaurant and bar in Coves Noves, behind the resort of Arenal d’en Castell. Having worked there since the early days, current owner Toni took over the premises to develop the restaurant side of the business and become the popular El Pirata of today.
From day one, the emphasis has been on quality home cooked food using only the freshest meat, fish and other ingredients. The succulent kebabs of chicken, steak and salmon served with different marinades and sauces are a speciality, the chicken and lemon being a particular favourite amongst many.
Opened under the new management of Toni this year, Can Guixó is a great bar to visit any time of day…from breakfast right through to late at night. The friendly, family atmosphere is evident from the moment Toni greets you with a warm smile….‘mi casa es tu casa’ (my home is your home) is very much the motto here. Indeed, those who are regulars to Na Macaret may recognise a couple of familiar faces helping out, Toni’s parents Jaime and Toñi used to run the popular locals bar on the corner, El Raco.
Many people may not have considered visiting Menorca’s only golf course for a meal. However, for a different type of dining experience, the Golf Son Parc Bar-Restaurant is open to everyone and offers a unique opportunity to enjoy lunch, dinner or snacks at any time of the day with magnificent panoramic views over the golf course and surrounding pine-covered hills. (Please check opening times.)
The restaurant is in fact a typical ‘Menorcan boyera’ (or cow shed) which has been converted and extended to provide a relaxed dining environment, with natural protection from the heat during the day. The large terrace area is perfect for summer evening drinks and tapas while watching the changing hues as the sun sets over the countryside or to relax after a game of golf or tennis.
Backgammon, pub and snack bar offers everything you could want to enjoy a drink with family entertainment at any time throughout the day. In the evening, it becomes the hottest party venue well into the early hours.
The bar is very conveniently located in the small yet bustling commercial centre of Coves Noves behind the resort of Arenal de’n Castell. Perfect if you want a break from the beach, a stop off after the supermarket or a fun evening with friends.
This idyllic bar and restaurant at Addaya Port has to be one of Menorca’s best kept secrets offering a large covered open terrace right on the water’s edge, perfect for drinks or something to eat at any time of the day. The small picturesque harbour of Addaya has always been well worth a visit for its natural beauty, charm and tranquillity, but now with the addition of La Cantina it’s even better for both boaters and visitors alike.
La Cantina opened in 2010 under the ownership of Juan who has put his heart and soul into creating a magical venue to relax and soak up boating life, whether it’s an early morning coffee and pastry or ‘pan con tomate’, a long lazy lunch, afternoon drinks or dinner with friends in the evening sunshine. The addition of the covered dinning area by the harbour and, new for 2012, the removable awning in front of the bar ensure comfortable dining with protection from the direct sunlight.
