Maó + Flors Festival 2013
This weekend (Friday 17 to Sunday 19 May) sees Mahón burst into bloom as the town celebrates its sixth flower festival, Maó + Flors, when buildings and shop fronts are transformed with fantastic floral displays, music fills the streets, bakeries sell cakes decorated with flowers and all sorts of other fun activities take place. And this year promises to be no exception with live music performances, the Maó Giants, a dog show, painting and photography exhibitions, children’s entertainment and readings of well-known stories and legends for everyone to enjoy. Fingers crossed that the sun comes out and the rain stays away..!
Over the past few weeks, florists and garden centres all around the island have been preparing wonderful floral arrangements to decorate the squares and public buildings, each having been allocated their own particular area. Children in the local schools have also been making murals and montages to decorate the streets.

What better way to enjoy the warmer spring weather than wandering along the Ruta de Tapas which this time has attracted 17 local bars and restaurants to serve a drink and a delicious little snack prepared especially for the occasion at just €2.
The restaurants and the tapas they are serving are listed below during the two day event. Please note, Can Los is closed on Sunday and Granja Es Castell is closed Sunday evening.

During the three day event, a variety of traditional and contemporary live acts will take place in the square, including some amazing equestrian displays from local riding clubs.
