Menorca Live Eating Out Guide: Something Special

Whilst there is no Michelin Star Restaurant on the island, the standard is increasing and it won’t be long before a restaurant in Menorca has it’s first Michelin Star.  There are many high quality fine dining restaurants available.  Be it celebrating a birthday, an anniversary or just because you deserve something special, there’s an array throughout the island. 

Something Special:

Whatever your tastes are in food, Menorca has a vary varied offering.  Recommending restaurants is difficult as we all have different budgets, taste & requirements.  This said, we aim to show is a simple comprehensive guide, so whether you want fine dining, traditional slow local food or family friendly, there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.

Sa Parrareta D’en Doro

Location: Camí de Binisafuet (4,72km) 07710 San Luis Budget: €€€

Comments: Most Definitely the hidden gem of restaurants in Menorca. Those who have been around Menorca long enough, will know of Chef Doro. A treat for the grown-up’s, his delicious, delicate plates are prepared with love and locally sourced seasonal ingredients. A well stocked wine cellar and attentive waiters, enhance the restaurants snug warm ambience in winter and it’s al fresco terrace dining in the summer, to complete a wonderful experience.

Mon Restaurant Fonda 

Location: Cuitadella Budget: €€€€ 

Comments: Al a carte or Menu.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide.  Based in Cuitadella, Mon is the brainchild of Chef Felip Llufrui who was head chef at Barcelona Michelin Star restaurant Roca Moo in 2013.  He opened Mon in 2014 followed by a connecting boutique hotel. The food is a mix of traditional Menorcan,  with a mix of French and Arabic. 

Smoix

Location: Cuitadella Budget: €€€ 

Comments: Al a carte or Menu of the Day.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide.  Chef  Miguel Sánchez and Matradee Vianey A. Lárraga offer high quality local seasonal products, sealed with their personal touch, served in a light and airy industrial style restaurant in the heart of Cuitadella.   

Rels Restaurant 

Location: Cuitadella Budget: €€€ 

Comments: Chef Joan Bague thrives on the best local produce and and pays gratitude to these products in his dishes, explaining that “Everything has it’s place in a dish”.  Before opening Rels he has worked in various Spanish Michelin Star restaurants and ran various restaurants in Menorca.  Rels was listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide. 

Ses Forquilles 

Location: Mahon Budget: €€ 

Comments: Quaint and local with a twist.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide.  Sister restaurant to El Rais on the Port of Mahon.  2021 brings a new venture for Ses Forquilles who will open doors to their new restaurant location in the Autumn.   

Torral Benc  

Location: Sant Climente Budget: €€€ 

Comments: Part of the Torral Benc vineyard and luxury hotel, the restaurant is open to the public offering sustainable local food.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide, recommended by Michelin Star Chef Gorka Txapartegi.

Es Moli de Foc 

Location: Sant Climente Budget: €€€ 

Comments: Famous for their Paella and unique rice dishes.  Set in a very vibrant Spanish townhouse.  The owner is also the brewer of Graham Pearce beer, local to Sant Climente.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide. 

Pan y Vino 

Location: Torret Budget: €€€ 

Comments: Al a carte and tasting menus.  European French with a twist of Asia. Set in a country house with beautiful landscaped gardens.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide.

Sa Pedrera d’es Pujol

Location: Torret Budget: €€€ 

Comments:  Set in a charming location in the village of Torret, focusing on fresh local produce.  One of the first restaurants to be frequented by tourists and locals back in the 60’s, in 2003 Chef Daniel Mora and his wife Nuria Pendás took ownership and preserved it’s typical island charm, both in the restaurant and Daniels dishes.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide. 

Es Cranc

Location: Fornells Budget: €€€ 

Comments:  One of the most famous restaurants in Menorca for eating the local dish of “Caldereta” Lobster Stew and specialising in all types of local fish dishes. Staff are very helpful and open to offering suggestions if you want to try a bit of everything.  Listed in the 2020 Michelin Guide. 

Biniarroca Bistró & Restaurante  

Location: Sant Lluis Budget: €€ 

Comments:  Charming country hotel with a restaurant.  Offer Al a Carte and a lunch time bistro menu on the terrace. Set in a traditional old country house with all it’s Charm.

Alcaufar Vell 

Location: Alcaufar Budget: €€€ 

Comments:  Traditional country house hotel with a restaurant.  Supporting the innovation of honest traditional Menorca cuisine. Offering everything from Brunch or Afternoon Tea to Supper Under The Stars in their stunning grounds.

Ca Na Pilar 

Location: Es Migjorn Gran Budget: €€€ 

Comments:  Small intimate restaurant in 200 year old village house.  Their menus focus on a selection of local produce influenced by the change of seasons.  Chef Victor Lidón started his culinary career at the age of 16 in Ca Na Pilar and after a whirlwind journey of working in Michelin star restaurants both in Spain and England, he returns to his roots of Es Migjorn Gran to show the island his love of fine cuisine and local seasonal produce.

Bistro Sol 32  

Location: Es Mercadal Budget: €€ 

Comments: With french Mediterranean influences, they are known for their Risotto, Sea Bass and local slow roasted lamb.  Set in a tiny traditional village house in the village of Es Mercadal. A charming atmosphere for a more relaxed dining experience.

Tast 

Location: Es Mercadal Budget: €€€ 

Comments: Mediterranean cuisine using local produce offering A la Carte and a tasting menu.  The restaurant boasts an informal Boho Chic ambience, with something to study in every corner.

Binifadet 

Location: Sant Lluis Budget: €€ 

Comments: One of Menorca’s most famous vin-yards with a restaurant.  Honest local cuisine in a picturesque setting.  Great value for money Menu del Dia at lunchtime or enjoy something off the evening Al la Carte and enjoy the beautiful terrace with it’s beautiful romanic atmosphere and bottle of Binifadet wine.
